Operating principle of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM)
Working principle of SRM: It follows the "minimum reluctance principle". After being energized, the magnetic circuit tends to change to the path with the minimum reluctance. The figure shows a schematic diagram of the circuit for one phase of a three-phase 6/4 pole SRM, where S1 and S2 are electronic switches, VD1 and VD2 are freewheeling diodes, and U0 is the DC power supply. The number of stator poles and rotor poles of the motor are not equal. The rotor is equipped with a position detector to provide rotor position signals, enabling the stator windings to be turned on and off in a certain sequence to maintain the continuous operation of the motor.
